South Park Sustainable Residence
Blending the feeling of a California Ranch House with a Colorado Mountain Bungalow, the South Park Sustainable Residence marries these two distinct styles designed for a family with an outdoor lifestyle. This 3,200 square foot home on the back side of South Park overlooks the Allegheny Mountain range with plentiful southern facing windows.
Sustainable design and construction were both practiced in this residence with radiant floor heat, minimal and efficient mechanical equipment, insulated concrete form foundation, structural insulated panels, natural daylight harvesting, overhangs for shading unwanted summer sun, and an impressive clerestory window that reflects natural light into the open kitchen/dining/living concept. On the exterior, storm water has been controlled with an underground cistern, permeable "GrassPave" driveway, and an above ground rain barrel for washing off the homeowner's muddy outdoor equipment.
