Mills Group awards 2021 Clayton Mills Scholarship

Last Friday, our Morgantown office hosted four students that are currently in the Architecture Program at Fairmont State University. During their visit, the students learned more about Mills Group and what an architect does post-graduation.

As an independent architecture firm, Mills Group recognizes the importance of developing professional networks while pursuing an architectural degree. The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) program is a nationwide effort to inspire, educate and provide networking opportunities for students interested in the building design profession.

In order to encourage these efforts by West Virginia’s newest architects, Managing Principal Michael Mills, AIA, NCARB established two scholarships to alleviate the financial burden of membership fees for students interested in AIAS.

  • The Mills Scholarship honors Grandfather Clayton “Bud” Mills and is reserved for a student interested in residential architecture.
  • The Blossom Scholarship memorializes Great Aunt Grace Blossom and is reserved for a student interested in historic architecture.

Deiland Slaughter, a senior at FSU, was awarded the 2021 Clayton Mills Scholarship which provides one year's membership fee to the local and national chapters of AIAS.

Congrats, Deiland!
