Mills Group supporting West Virginia Botanic Garden Project
Nov 30 2020 — Monday
2020 marks the 15-year anniversary of Mills Group, an award-winning architecture firm with offices in Morgantown and Wheeling. In celebration of their clients and stakeholders, they offered free conceptual design services to public entities and non-profits that are working to improve their community through architecture, preservation, and planning efforts within the state.
“This offer of pro-bono services is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the communities that have supported our growth and success over the past 15 years,” says Managing Principal Michael Mills. “We truly believe that great design makes for great communities, and by doing this, we can help make a difference in West Virginia.”
The West Virginia Botanic Garden was the winner from the Mountaineer Country region of the state for the renovation of the Welcome Center. Mills Group will be assisting with conceptual layouts for the structure including HVAC. They will be designing a new access from the existing entrance and new parking area, concepts for a new courtyard area and café, and administrative space. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2023.
“We are thrilled to be selected by Mills Group to help us repurpose an existing building into a new Welcome Center. This facility will be enjoyed by our visitors and provide much needed office space for our growing staff,” says Philip Smith, Executive Director of the Morgantown Botanic Garden.
The West Virginia Botanic Garden at Tibbs Run Preserve seeks to foster learning, inspiration, and well-being through the beauty and wonder of plants, the natural environment, and culturally enriching experiences.
