West Edge Warehouse

The firm was tasked with developing the design potential of the 94,000 sq. ft. West Edge Factory located in the Westmoreland neighborhood of Huntington. The reprogramming and stabilization of the former Corbin Building was undertaken to accelerate the property as a job creation engine and training center to diversify the economies of Wayne, Lincoln, and Mingo Counties. These communities surround the heart of Central Appalachian Coalfield, a region characterized by steep and rugged topography which limits access to basic services and economic development.

Beginning with an initial site visit and condition assessment, along with an extensive fire and life safety assessment, the firm compiled a feasibility study before moving into design work. Ultimately, the firm met the challenge of creating a cohesive program for several distinct uses and tenants within the large former industrial facility.
