Lang Smith Brings Southern Charm to the Mills Group

The Mills Group is excited to announce the addition of Lang Smith to our studio. Lang Smith will lead the residential design division and brings more than 25 years of experience to our Morgantown office.

Lang is originally from Columbia, South Carolina where he owned and operated Custom House Designs by Lang Smith since 1992 designing distinctive and innovative homes throughout the southeast. Known for his attention to detail and customer care, Lang brings his designer’s eye and craftsmanship to Mills Group.

As the Director of the Residential Design Division of the Mills Group, Lang will lead and collaborate with other team members in creating high performance, sustainable and well-crafted homes for our clients, both new construction and renovations. Tasked with growing the division, he will focus on custom designs, cost estimating and client relations while maintaining the Mills Group’s high standards. Lang will continue to expand on Mills Group’s philosophy of “walking in our clients’ shoes” to understand who they are and what they want which becomes the basis of all design decisions.

Lang and his wife Lillian live in Morgantown with their dog Rusty where they enjoy easy access to outdoor activities and the friendly atmosphere. Their daughter Beaumont is a student at the University of Richmond and visits often.
