Gibson Library

The Gibson Library located at 105 East Main Street in Buckhannon, WV was built in 1942 as the main city Library. The building is in the Art Deco style and is a product of the WPA program. The building has retained its original character with minor updates to the exterior with a new roof membrane being the most significant update and the interior only have been updated with HVAC systems and built-ins since the doors opened.

The proposed project is a modernization of the existing structure with minor spatial reconfiguration and complete infrastructure upgrades along with an addition of approximately 1500 square feet. The new addition shall house restrooms, multipurpose room, staff office, children’s reading room, and space for book shelving. The exterior scope shall include ADA ramp at the existing front entrance and dedicated ramp and stair for the rear entrance to allow for off hours use.
